Childrens Hospital of GHS Health System

Location: Children’s Hospital of Greenville Health System, Spartanburg, SC
Our Part: Atrium Woodwork and Paneling

the background

The Children’s Hospital of Greenville Health System (GHS) is located in Spartanburg, South Carolina.  Board-certified physicians care for more than 330,000 infants, children, and adolescents each year.  The Schroeder’s Trim Works and Cabinets team was contracted by Clayton Construction Company to solve an architectural challenge in a brand new building, incorporating an octagonal wood paneling system in the atrium of the reception area of the hospital.

the challenges

The architectural design for the atrium in the Reception area of the children’s hospital called for an octagonal structure, which appears to float freely above the hospitals clients. Not only did the Schroeders trim works and cabinets team have to calculate and layout the octagon, we also built the structure underneath the paneling to ensure everything was mounted and assembled in the right places. The entire structure had to be built on site to accommodate any structural challenges arising along the way.

the results

Speak for themselves. Bob Schroeder and his team created a beautiful focal point for the Hospital’s reception and waiting area, rounding off the spacious open design of the building, and allowing the little and not so little clients of the hospital to roam freely and play,  while they wait for their service provider. Once again, Schroeders Trim Works and Cabinet built a beautiful proof of their skills and craftsmanship.
